About the Author of the Book
The Story Theater Method
For Strategic Storytelling In Business
Author: Doug Stevenson
Doug Stevenson gave his first speech at 13 years of age in Boy Scouts. He became
a professional actor in his hometown of Chicago at 19 and at 22, hitchhiked to
Hollywood where he acted on stage in everything from Snoopy to Shakespeare and
in movies, TV and commercials. During his 16 years as a character actor he
developed his unique style of physical comedy. His expertise eventually led him
to direct plays and teach acting.
While in Hollywood, Doug owned a carpentry and remodeling business and a mobile
disk jockey company. After 13 years of trying to become a rich and famous movie
star, he did what many actors do when they fail to make it in Hollywood – he
moved to Colorado Springs and became a real estate broker. Always the
entrepreneur, he quickly opened his own brokerage firm, Sherlock’s Homes.
While selling homes, Doug discovered the world of professional speaking. He
began teaching presentation skills in 1990 and held his first Story Theater
Retreat in 1996. He now presents keynotes and training seminars worldwide. He
has performed in front of over 1000 audiences as an actor, rock singer, speaker,
trainer and author.
Doug is the creator of the Story Theater MethodTM for
Making Content Come
Alive. His articles and interviews have been published in many national
publications including Selling Power, Investors Business Daily and
Professional
Speaker Magazine. He has contributed a monthly column entitled Talk Your Walk
for the Denver Business Journal.
Doug is a member of the American Society of Training and Development and is
Past-President of the Colorado Chapter of the National Speakers Association. He
has produced five Story Theater audio albums, as well as the audio and video of
his Positive Power of Change keynote.

Beta and an adorable old mutt named Maggie. His stepson Mike is a Hip Hop
producer in Los Angeles. His stepson Bennett is a Cadet at the US Air Force
Academy.
